ONO has agreed to reduce the number of people affected by the Spanish cablenet’s redundancy programme by 24%. It follows an agreement with unions representing the majority of employees.
988 staff, as opposed to the original 1,300, will now face redundancy with ONO promising to work with those affected to find them alternative employment. They will also be given preferential treatment should suitable vacancies arise later in the year.
The original announcement was made on October 24 last year as the cablenet looked to reduce costs as a result of the worsening economic environment.
