Kanal 2 tops Estonian charts

Kanal 2 ended 2008 as the most popular broadcaster in Estonia, just as it had done a year earlier.
According to data produced by TNS Emor, its daily audience share amongst viewers aged 4+ in December 2008 amounted to 20.0% (21.3% in December 2007), ahead of MTG-backed TV3 with 15.0% (19.5%) and the public broadcaster ETV with 16.6% (15.7%).
There were mixed fortunes for Russian channels – RTR Planeta (3.6% v 2.8%) and NTV Mir (3.1% v 2.6%) posted rises, while PBK (13.2% v 13.4%) saw a slight fall – as well as thematic services.
While Kalev Sport, launched at the beginning of 2008, saw its audience share generally rise through the year to reach 0.6%, MTV Eesti’s figure stabilised at 0.3%.
