Channel 4 achieved its largest-ever month for streaming in April, with audiences consuming over five billion minutes of content, according to figures released by Barb.
Demand was driven by the popularity of Channel 4’s latest season of Married at First Sight Australia, which has consistently topped Barb’s weekly Broadcaster Video On Demand (BVOD) charts for total minutes streamed.
The Australian version of the hit reality show drew in viewers aged 16 to 34 and emerged as the number one streamed broadcaster on-demand program for eight out of nine weeks in March and April. Across all platforms, Series 10 of the reality show has averaged a seven-day audience of 1.6 million viewers per episode.
Ian Katz, Chief Content Officer at Channel 4, also noted the success of new shows like Tempting Fortune, Scared of the Dark, and Rise and Fall.
The streaming figures for April further solidify Channel 4’s Future4 strategy, which prioritises digital growth. Channel 4 has now rebranded all of its digital services, including streaming, under the Channel 4 name.
