Presenters Kay Burley and Anna Botting will host coverage of the event, which will be free-to-view in the UK and around the world. They will be joined by events commentator Alastair Bruce, widely considered to be the ‘Coronation expert’.
The free Ultra HD feed will take pictures from multiple locations around the route.
John Ryley, Head of Sky News, said: “Whether unifying or polarising, the spectacle of the King’s Coronation is guaranteed to capture the world’s attention. With the ceremonial events never seen in this great a clarity, Sky News will offer audiences the highest-quality Ultra HD coverage with the best royal commentator in Alastair Bruce. He’ll take viewers through this historical moment with his unmatched knowledge and skill to get the tone just right.”
In addition to the live coverage, a special 30-min documentary My King, My Country with Niall Paterson will air on Sky News on Sunday 30 April at 20.00 BST. The documentary travels the country exploring public opinion towards the King and the monarchy, taking a temperature test for support, and looking at the challenges that may be ahead for the new Head of State.
Ad breaks will be removed between 09.00-15.00 BST on Sky News to ensure uninterrupted coverage of the main Coronation programme on Saturday 6 May.
