The number of subscribers received bundled services in Portugal reached 4.6 million at the end of last year.
This, according to figures published by the regulator ANACOM, was 158,000, or 3.6%, more than in Q4 2021 and was higher than the 3.4% growth recorded in 2021. Moreover, it was driven almost exclusively by 4/5P offers, with the number receiving such serviced increasing by 178,000, or 7.9%, in 2022.
4/5P offers were the most used, with 2.4 million subscribers (53.6% of the total number to bundled offers), followed by the 3P offers, with 1.7 million subscribers (37. 3%). The percentage growth of 4/5P offers (+7.9%) was the highest since the end of 2019, while 3P offers registered a decrease (-0.8%), contradicting the growth registered in 2020 and 2021.
Single play or 1P, which are characterised by not being sold as a bundle, accounted for 70.5% of mobile accesses and 15.4% of fixed accesses. It is estimated that in July 2022, isolated residential offers accounted for 1% of total fixed broadband residential subscribers, 3% of total pay-TV residential subscribers and 5% of total residential subscribers to fixed-line telephony.
In 2022, revenues from bundled services amounted to around €1,867 million (50.4% of total retail revenues), up 4.3% on the previous year. Revenues from 4/5P offers represented 65.3% of total bundled revenues or 33% of total retail revenues. ARPU per package subscriber was €34.80 (excluding VAT), 0.7% more than in the previous year. The average monthly revenue was €43.19 euros in the case of 4/5P offers (+0.4%) and €27.43 in the case of 3P offers (-0.9%).
At the end of 2022, Meo was the provider with the highest share of subscribers to bundled services (41.1%), followed by Grupo Nos (35.5%), Vodafone (20.3%) and Nowo (2.9%). Compared to the previous year, Vodafone and Meo increased their share of subscribers (+0.4pp and +0.3pp respectively), while the shares of Grupo Nos (-0.4pp) and Nowo (- 0.3pp) decreased.
In net terms, Nowo was the only one of the providers to see a decrease the number of package subscribers.
By type of offer, Meo had the highest share of subscribers in all types of offer: 2P (45.2%), 3P (39.2%) and 4/5P (41.8%).
On the other hand, Meo also had the highest share of revenues from bundled services (41.2%), followed by Grupo Nos (40.2%), Vodafone (16.7%) and Nowo (1.8%).
Compared to the previous year, Grupo Nos and Meo increased their revenue shares (+0.2pp and +0.1pp., respectively), while Nowo and Vodafone decreased their shares (-0.2pp and – 0.1pp, respectively).
