Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor ended last year with 12.283 million subscribers, of whom 10,5 million opted for its HD services.
It also increased the number of customers with access to Ultra HD channels by more than 30% during the year to 915,000.
The company says that in 2022 it paid special attention to the development of its OTT service Tricolor Kino and TV, which already has more than 2.6 million users. It adds that the growing popularity of the service is primarily due to the availability of exclusive content and a change in pricing policy: in many Russian cities, the cost of collective TV services for watching TV channels is significantly higher than the cost of a monthly subscription to Tricolor Kino and TV.
Tricolor also says that it launched its first proprietary children’s channels TipTop and Chizhik last year. In total, at the end of 2022 it offered more than 280 channels, including its own.
The latter accounted for 11% of the total share of satellite TV viewing and 22% of OTT viewing.
