Slovak pubcaster recruits Pavol Pavlik

January 17, 2023 10.01 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Pavol Pavlik has been appointed the director of the new media section at the Slovak public broadcaster RTVS.

He replaces Matus Miklosik, who headed the section on a temporary basis.

Pavlik has many years of experience in the field of media and online communication. He worked as an editor, moderator, dramaturg and editor-in-chief at Slovak Radio, Twist radio and TV Markíza. Since 2004, he was executive and project director at Media One where he was responsible for company and project management and provided consultations in the communication and media field.

Commenting on his new role, which he took up on January 15, Pavlik said: “we live in a very complicated time, in which passions are being whipped up and big barriers are being built in society. I am convinced that RTVS, as a public-law media, has an irreplaceable place in this situation, and I would like to participate in the position of director of the new media section in ensuring that our public-law institution fully utilises its great potential at this time and succeeds in online segment”.

Lubos Machaj, general director of RTVS, said: “I decided to invite people I know from the previous period to the management of RTVS, I know that I can rely on them and I am convinced of their professional qualities. I am very happy that Mr. Pavol Pavlík is a new addition to the management.

“We have known each other for several decades and he is close to modern technology and understands the online world. RTVS needs to strengthen its position in the online space. It is necessary to use the online potential to the fullest, to increase the output, and I believe that Mr. Pavlík with his experience will be able to significantly help RTVS in this direction”.
