Radio Television Kosovo (RTK) has complained that its allocated budget of €8.96 million for 2023 is insufficient.
Quoting a statement by its board shortly after the Kosovo parliament approved the budget, Prishtina Insight reports it is the smallest ever allocated to RTK in the last 10 years and €2.2 million less than in 2021.
It adds that past mismanagement has left RTK with a debt of €1.6 million which cannot be paid off by the allocated budget for 2023.
RTK earns less that €1 million a year from advertising and its budget for 2023 will not allow it to undertake capital investments and award contracts for independent productions.
