The French Court of Appeal has ruled Canal+ does not have to restore the retransmission of TF1 by satellite.
Canal+ ceased broadcasting the TF1 family of channels (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI) across all of its distribution channels in early September after failing to reach an agreement with the Bouygues-owned channel.
The Paris Court of Appeal confirmed this morning (Thursday) that Canal+ was not obliged to restore the broadcast of the TF1 group’s channels on its TNT Sat satellite offer, confirming the September 22 decision by the Paris Commercial Court.
In a statement, Canal said it was still open to negotiations and was ready to compensate TF1, but only for the value-added services associated with the channels.
