Digicel and mediaClass.tv launch OTT service in 17 Caribbean countries

October 4, 2022 12.38 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Digicel Group and mediaClass have partnered for the launch of multiple OTT TV and IPTV services in 17 countries across Digicel’s Caribbean region.

The new service utilises mediaClass’ multi-tenant features to deliver a variety of OTT and IPTV channels. These include Digicel’s SportsMax, the most widely distributed and watched channel in the region, as well as wireline TV service through Android set-top boxes using a single scalable, multi-tenant TV Platform.

Gyorgy Zsembery, Digicel Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Home & Entertainment said: “The
advanced on-demand side of the services is one of the biggest shifts in our customer experience to date, and the mediaClass multi-tenant platform has allowed us to deliver an ever-increasing set of services.”

mediaClass provides all the elements of a TV platform including an advanced packager, multi-DRM (digital rights management), OTT backend, CDN (content delivery network) and apps for Android STBs and other devices.

Dr. Arjang Zadeh, CEO of mediaClass added: “We are delighted to partner with Digicel for its new advanced TV service across the Caribbean. Together we have managed to deliver the best-in-class TV service and features in record time and breakthrough cost base”.

Digicel runs LTE and fibre networks, together with a suite of apps spanning sports,
news, local radio and podcasts and TV streaming.
