The OTT service Kyivstar TV has adopted by a set-top box supplied exclusively by inext, a Ukrainian company that specialises in the development and production of Android STB and media players for B2B and B2C markets.
The inext TV-X is based on the customised Android 10 (AOSP) operating system and includes such features as a Wi-Fi AC module and Bluetooth 5.0. Commenting on the development, Pavel Rybak, head of Kyivstar TV project, said: “Through the course of lasting development and adjustment of our system and thanks to the cooperative efforts of both Kyivstar TV and inext teams the most effective solution was brought in – inext TV-X, an exclusive set-top box designed to provide the best experience of Kyivstar TV service”.
Maksym Schygol, product manager at inext in Romsat company, added: “We’ve received a request from one of the biggest OTT services in Ukraine – Kyivstar TV to develop an up-to-date set-top box model for its service featured with Bluetooth support, in order to connect external devices and use the media player as a home entertainment centre, as well as 5 GHz AC Wi-Fi for the best internet connection”.
Kyivstar TV is a joint venture between Kyivstar and 1+1 media and provides an access to more than 320 TV channels from all over the world, over 100 of which are in HD and over 40+ exclusive to the service.
