RTL Group has seen more growth on streaming services RTL+ and Videoland.
Paying subscribers for RTL+ increased by 84.6 per cent year on year to 3.172 million from 1.718 million in March 2021 as the German service benefitted from a content bundle on Deutsche Telekom’s Magenta TV service.
RTL+ and the local linear channels pulled in record audiences for coverage of the Uefa Europa League. RTL has just signed an agreement to broadcast half of all football matches featuring the German national team in the Uefa Nations League until 2028, the European Qualifiers for the Fifa World Cup 2026 and Uefa Euro 2028. The deal also includes games without German participation.
In the Netherlands, paying subscribers for Videoland grew 12.9% year on year to 1.136 million.
TV advertising revenue was up 11.2% at €829 million, while RTL Group’s distribution revenue was up 2.8% to €109 million.
Group revenue up 11.3% to €1,562 million.
