Cellnex Telecom and Sofia Digital create new HbbTV-based streaming service

March 4, 2022 11.48 Europe/London By Julian Clover

A new method of content discovery, running on Vestel TVs, has been created by Sofia Digital and Cellnex Telecom.

The LOVEStv application is based on HbbTV can be found on the home page of Vestel’s smart TVs. It had previously only been available within the overlay of participating TV channels.

After launching the application, viewers are presented with a grid of channels, complete with logos, and details of the current programme. The broadcast of the active channel comes through the TV tuner.

Users can select the TV channel and their television will switch to the live broadcast channel.

HbbTV functionalities like catchup and start-over are also made available.

The approach was premiered at HbbTV Symposium in Paris last November.
