A feature-length documentary on the 1996 boxing match between Julio César Chávez and Oscar De La Hoya is part of the launch slate of DAZN Studios.
The documentary La Guerra Civil, directed by Eva Longoria Bastón, is premiering at Sundance Film Festival on 20th January.
The streamer is combining its original sport documentaries, series and licensing business under a single banner and intends to work with the next generation of content creators to develop programming that tells the story behind sport.
“We are incredibly excited to be working with the next generation of creators and giving them an environment to do what they do best; create engaging and innovative productions,” said DAZN’s EVP Global Commissioning & Original Content, Grant Best. “DAZN Studios will be a space where artists have the space to be creative and produce documentaries, series and films all in the world of sport.”
The original content slate for 2022 also features a line-up of global sporting icons including Ronaldo Nazario De Lima and Diego Maradona and the story of Cameroon’s 1990 World Cup bid.
