Netflix has taken its first step in launching games on mobile.
As a result, members throughout the world can play Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP), Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop).
According to Mike Verdu, VP game development, “whether you’re craving a casual game you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favourite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone. We’re in the early days of creating a great gaming experience, and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us”.
To access the games, all is needed is a Netflix subscription and there are no ads, no additional fees and no in-app purchases. They are currently available on Android devices when users log into their Netflix profile and available in many of the languages Netflix offers on service. Otherwise, they will default to English.
Members will be able to play games on multiple mobile devices on the same account. If they hit their device limit they will be informed and, if needed, be able to sign out of devices not in use or deactivate them remotely on Netflix.com to free up a slot.
In view of child safety, the games will not be available on kids profiles.
While some mobile games may require an internet connection, others will be available to play offline.
