The Slovak national commercial broadcaster TV Markiza will close its teletext service at the end of this year.
According to Zive, quoting a statement released by TV Markiza, it says that “after a quarter of a century of existence, Markízatext has fulfilled its historical role; from the beginning of 2022, teletext broadcasting will only serve as a platform for providing closed captions for viewers with hearing impairments”.
TV Markiza goes on to say that viewers can find a non-stop news service on the TVnovinky.sk portal, the content of which is also available via HbbTV.
TV Markiza is part of the CME group of TV stations in Central and Eastern Europe and owned by the Czech Republic’s PPF Group.
