Netflix offers Kenyans free mobile plan

September 21, 2021 12.54 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Netflix is offering audiences in Kenya a free plan that allows them to enjoy around a quarter of the streamer’s catalogue, free of charge.

Titles including Blood & Water, Bridgerton and Army of the Dead are a part of the package.

The service is being offered ad-free on Android mobile phones. To sign up, users need only enter their email, confirm their age as being over 18, and create a password.

Netflix is hoping that the free offer will tempt Kenyans across to a free plan.

“If you’ve never watched Netflix before — and many people in Kenya haven’t — this is a great way to experience our service. And if you like what you see, it’s easy to upgrade to one of our paid plans so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well,” said Cathy Conk, Director, Product Innovation.

While some Neflix functionality such as parental controls will be on offer, the ability to download a show or movie, will not be available under the free plan.
