Canal+ is launching a pop-up channel, Ciné+ Histoire, that will run between 4 and 31 October.
Ciné+ Histoire will carry more than 40 films and a new documentary. It will be available on myCanal and Ciné+ on demand. Some films will also be broadcast on channels within the Ciné+ linear package.
Titles include Monuments Men, The Fall of the Roman Empire, Invasion Day, De Gaulle and Valmont. The new documentary Une histoire extraordinaire will be broadcast on Ciné+ Première on 20 October. Directed by Anne Martinetti and produced by Otago Productions (Guillaume Lebeau), it “attempts to understand why cinema gives this impression of being able to capture a historical event through its formal mastery of image and sound, its relationship with time… and its illumination, in all senses of the word
