Deutsche Telekom to offer Apple TV 4K for MagentaTV

July 16, 2021 11.37 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German telco Deutsche Telekom will offer its TV platform MagentaTV in combination with the Apple TV 4K box from July 20, 2021.

New and existing customers can get Apple TV 4K as a rental or purchase device. They can use the Apple TV app to watch Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels, and have the opportunity to buy or rent newly released movies, classics, and TV shows. Customers can also access Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and other apps, including games, fitness, and education.

“With Apple TV 4K we offer a perfect range of the best TV and excellent hardware with unique comfort to our customers. Thanks to the automatic login, our customers can immediately and easily access their favourite content on MagentaTV. The remote control developed for MagentaTV and certified by Apple also creates an extraordinary and unique customer experience,” said Michael Schuld, Head of TV at Deutsche Telekom.

MagentaTV will offer customers the zero sign-on from Apple: Apple TV 4K will automatically install the MagentaTV app and sign them in without the need to enter a username and password. With the special remote control optimised for MagentaTV, customers can jump directly to MagentaTV’s EPG with just one push of a button. Customers can also use a separate button to access Siri for voice control.

Eligible Deutsche Telekom customers receiving Apple TV 4K benefit from a limited time offer of three months of Apple TV+ included for free.

Also starting from July 20, Deutsche Telekom customers with the MagentaTV stick can access video subscription service Apple TV+.
