German tabloid newspaper BILD will launch its planed TV channel on August 22, 2021.
The media authorities have granted the required broadcast licence as a general interest channel, parent company Axel Springer announced in Hamburg.
The ad-supported free-TV channel will be available unencrypted – also in HD quality – via cable, satellite, IPTV and web. The goal is a technical reach of around 85% of German TV households at launch, according to Springer.
The core element of the 24/7 schedule will be daily news show BILD Live, airing Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:00 CET. The hosts discuss current topics in the studio with experts and viewers as well as reporters at the location. The programme will be shown simultaneously on N24 Doku, the sister channel of Springer’s news channel WELT.
There will also be live shows on politics, sports and entertainment as well as reports and documentaries.
