YouTube TV is introducing 4K Plus to its TV service, offering subscribers in the United States downloads and unlimited streams at home.
In a blog post, Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan said subscribers in the United States would be able to watch live content from broadcast networks including NBC and ESPN, and featuring college football and basketball. Later in the year there will be on-demand content from FX, Discovery Networks, Tastemade.
4K Plus will also allow subscribers to download favourite shows to watch offline.
“The YouTube TV base package includes three simultaneous streams, but with 4K Plus, you get unlimited streams on your home Wi-Fi,” said Mohan.
4K Plus will be available at an additional $19.99/month, but in a special launch offer, new users can get a one-month free trial and then a price of $9.99/month for one year.
5.1 Dolby audio capabilities will be added for all YouTube TV subscribers. Mohan says this has been one of the streaming service’s most-requested features.
Last year YouTube TV introduced the ability to jump to a specific item in a news bulletin. On the roadmap is the ability to add this to sports, enabling users to jump to specific moments and to search for any sport within the DVR.
