Wurl recruits James Grant

June 29, 2021 20.03 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The streaming TV company Wurl has appointed James Grant to the newly created position of SVP, strategy & partnerships, Europe.

In his role Grant, based in London and reporting to CEO Sean Docherty, will spearhead Wurl’s EU expansion plans while also overseeing its current distribution platform and content provider partnerships, including the recently announced partnership with Rakuten TV in Europe.

Grant joins Wurl from Finecast, the addressable TV division of GroupM, where he was a member of the global team with responsibility to oversee the development and deployment of addressable TV product solutions. Previously, he held several roles within the FreeWheel organisation and was a key member of the European team that grew the business from start-up to acquisition.

Commenting on the appointment, Docherty said: “James has been at the heart of the connected TV advertising business and brings his experience and insight to Wurl at a pivotal growth period for us.

“We are seeing FAST explode throughout Europe and we are uniquely positioned to deliver programming to all the leading streaming platforms while maximising monetisation”.
