Swiss cable operator Sasag is expanding its IPTV platform with the support of Zattoo.
As part of a multi-year partnership, Sasag will upgrade its IPTV offering, launched in 2016, with new interactive functions, personalisation and additional reception devices. Zattoo’s white label platform used in the process enables features such as content discovery, catch-up TV, live pause, restart and TV recording (nPVR).
Sasag’s new TV service will launch in summer 2021 with the rollout of apps for Apple TV (tvOS) and iOS devices. A Sasag-branded Android TV operator tier set-top box, apps for Amazon Fire TV and Smart TVs, and Android and web apps will follow in early autumn.
Sasag will be the first network operator in Switzerland to offer its customers a full set of smart TV apps, including Panasonic, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS, as well as smart TVs running Android TV.
“After modernising our fibre optic cable network and being the first cable network to introduce nationwide 1Gbps internet two years ago, we are now taking our place at the top of the TV service provider table by switching to Zattoo’s TV Platform solution. The extensive feature set of the new IPTV solution, as well as the availability of the TV solution on all of our end users’ devices will make our future IPTV offering much more attractive,” said Daniel Kyburz, CEO of Sasag.
