NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service has secured the rights to screen PDC darts in the Netherlands.
Darts enjoys huge popularity in the Netherlands and is home to three-time PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen.
Barry Hearn OBE, PDC President said: “NENT Group are already valued broadcast partners across a number of territories and their expansion into the Netherlands is an exciting time for both them and the PDC.
It’s a blow to RTL7, which has shown the PDC tournaments since 2012.
“We’re coming to the Netherlands to be a streaming leader. That means securing the most relevant local sports rights, in addition to offering great original content,” said Peter Nørrelund, NENT Group’s Chief Sports Officer.
NENT recently acquired the Dutch rights to Formula 1 and Bundesliga football.
Viaplay’s launch date, pricing and packaging in the Netherlands will be announced in due course.
