The Lithuanian national transmission company Telecentras has started to provide technical support services to broadcasters throughout the country.
They include fault recording, telephone advice and arrangement/installation of TV reception equipment in viewers’ homes.
According to Telecentras, over 400,000 households in Lithuania watch free DTT services. It broadcasts 15 national and nine regional channels and these are the most watched in the country, accounting for 60% of all viewing.
Remigijus Seris, the company’s general manager, said: “Looking at the whole path of TV programmes from the TV studio to the airtime TV viewer, it is clear that most of the problems lie in the TV signal reception chain. According to the historically established model, for a long time the reception of the TV signal was the concern of the viewers themselves. They were left to take care of a suitable antenna and connections. Now Telecentras aims to ensure the quality of the essential TV service from the TV studio to TV viewers throughout Lithuania”.
