Synamedia embraces Android and RDK

March 16, 2021 20.13 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Synamedia’s new modular suite of SaaS services moves the company towards client agnostic software.

Synamedia Go is fully integrated with AndroidTV, RDK, AppleTV, iOS, WebOS and Tizen applications.

It’s based on a flexible, ‘add and go’ architecture for pay-TV operators and OTT/D2C streaming providers.

Nick Thexton, Synamedia CTO, told Broadband TV News, the company was trying to remove the need for operators to change everything all at once. “I think the case for RDK and Android stands on a slightly different foundation, which is to do with the eco-system that comes with them and really that’s what driving the interest in those platforms.”

The first services out of the blocks are Go.Aggregate, which unifies content from different services and presenting it to viewers in a simplified, curated and searchable way and Go Experiment that offers business teams new tools to improve and accelerate their decision-making on pressing issues such as content spend, UI improvements, and live event promotions.

Synamedia Go runs on Synamedia’s Cloud TV Application Platform (CTAP).
