Russian pay-TV market grows

Russia ended 20202 with 44,847,000 pay-TV subscribers.

This, according to Telecom Daily, was 817,000 more than a year earlier.

In the last quarter alone, the number of subscribers increased by 310,000.

As of the end of 2020 pay-TV penetration stood at 81% and ARPU was R195 (€2.18) excluding VAT.

Russia’s five leading operators accounted for 75% of connected households. Tricolor, the market leader, ended 2020 with 12,257,000, up slightly on the 12,206,000 posted in the third quarter of the year.

It was followed by Rostelecom with 10,690,000 (10.590,000), MTS 4,277,000 (4,155,000), ER Telecom 3,770,000 (3,750,000) and Orion 3,020,551 (3,031,000).
