Thema launches OTT service in Italy

December 14, 2020 11.00 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Thema has launched its first multiscreen OTT service Lebouquetafricain TV in Italy.

Its offer includes access to 10 live TV channels, along with the large SVOD catalogue +D’Afrique featuring a selection of African movies and series, including a significant number of Nollywood TV channels.

The service consists of three packages: Teranga, with five Senegalese live TV-channels including 2STV, TFM and SUNU YEUF for €2 a month; Divertissement, with five entertainment African channels such as A+, Nollywood TV or Trace Africa for €2 a month; and La Totale, combining both these packages for €3.50 a month.

Thema notes that the launch of this OTT solution represents a new business opportunity for itself as a content aggregator, as it is the first B2C product to be deployed on the Italian market.

Sylvie Michel, deputy CEO of Thema, said: I am very proud of this launch, which is fully in line with the strategic orientation undertaken by THEMA on the digital field. This new OTT service is a first step forward in the development of B2C solutions and its launch leads the way for new ones”.

Thema has chosen the Alpha Networks Beemix solution to develop the new OTT service. Alpha Networks has provided it with an end-to-end solution for Live, SVOD content and EPG. Beemix TV platform by Alpha Networks, fully deployed in the cloud, offers the advantages of a pre-integrated solution, thanks to the flowless cooperation of reliable technology partners.

Guillaume Devezeaux, CMO at Alpha Networks, said: “We are very pleased that Thema has trusted Alpha Networks and that we could help them deliver an innovative multi-screen OTT experience to subscribers. Beemix is an advanced product allowing our customers to focus exclusively on their marketing strategy. It includes video workflow, advanced content and offer subscription management, user profiles management and can also be combined with our white label applications to benefit from a complete E2E solution. Scalability and innovation are at the core of our products”.

The solution is already available on all Android devices with the Chromecast functionality, and on the web via lebouquetafricain.tv, and will be available on IoS by January.
