Moldova’s pay-TV market had revenues of MDL45.5 million (€2.14 million) in the third quarter, or 25.5% more than in the same period last year.
At the same time, according to figures published by the regulator ANRCETI, the number of subscribers was 4.7% higher at the end of Q3 than at the start of the year.
The increase in revenues was driven by IPTV, which rose by 46.1% to MDL32.6 million.
On the other hand, cable revenues fell by 7.3% to MDL12.9 million. Meanwhile, ARPU rose by 20.3% to MDL43.4. The IPTV subscriber total increased by 11.9% to a little over 202,000, representing a 57.5% of the pay-TV market.
On the other hand, the number of cable subscribers fell by 3.6% to 149,300, with a share of 42.5%. All told, the penetration rate of pay-TV services per 100 households increased by 2.4 percentage points to 39.9%.
The use of digital and analogue pay-TV services was 77.3% and 22.7% of the total respectively.
In terms of turnover, Moldtelecom had the largest share (35%) in the third quarter. It was followed by TV Box (33%), Orange Moldova (6%) and other providers (26%).
