A + E Networks extends Sky-D distribution

November 23, 2020 11.18 Europe/London By Julian Clover

A + E Networks Germany and Sky Deutschland are to extend their partnership for the distribution of History and Crime + Investigation.

A new multi-year contract will cover the distribution of the channels in Germany and Austria. The collaboration extends back for more than 10 years.

Kathrin Palesch, Managing Director of A + E Networks Germany said History and Crime + Investigation were among the leading international factual entertainment brands. “By continuing the very successful and longstanding cooperation with Sky Deutschland, Sky customers in Germany and Austria will continue to benefit from first-class documentaries and true crime formats.”

Programme highlights on History include Enslaved – On the Trail of the Slave Trade, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Spy Wars with Damian Lewis on a secret mission. Crime + Investigation launched in the German market last year and will feature local productions alongside international commissions.

Manuel Kindervater, Vice President Partner Channels at Sky Germany: “In the summer we extended top-class channel and film deals, we will double the number of our Sky Originals over the next three years and in the coming year we will be launching four brand new Sky channel brands. The extension of the long-term cooperation with A + E Networks is now a further step that will make our entertainment offer unique for our customers in the coming years.”

The new contract covers the distribution via Sky Q and Sky Go and includes further box sets.
