Romania gained an additional 170,000 fixed internet subscribers in the first six months of this year.
According to preliminary data supplied by the regulator ANCOM for Rising Cities. Smart Future 2020 and published by Business Review, the number stood at 5.45 million, up from 5.28 million at the end of last year and 5.13 million in June 2019.
Significantly, there was no growth in 4G internet subscribers in H1 this year (12.02 million), while the number of 3G internet subscribers fell from 4.96 million to 4.64 million and 2G from 2.90 million to 2.84 million.
Preliminary figures also show that there was 5.5 billion GB of internet traffic in Romania in H1, with fixed accounting for 4.8 billion GB. This compared to 4.07 billion GB in the second half of 2019.
