TVP launches docu channel

November 19, 2020 12.19 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Polish public broadcaster TVP will launch its latest thematic channel TVP Dokument later today (November 19).

It is being made available to all Canal+ subscribers and at the same time another channel – TVP Kultura – will move to the HD standard.

Commenting on TVP Dokument, Malgorzata Seck, VP of programming at Canal+ Polska, said: “Thematic channels offering high-quality documentary content from many different categories are often chosen by our subscribers, so we are very happy that the TVP Dokument channel will be included in our offer on the day of the official launch”.

Marcin Klepacki, distribution director at TVP, added: “Telewizja Polska consistently extends its programming offer, enriching it with new valuable thematic channels, and such a channel is undoubtedly TVP Dokument. However, we would not be able to successfully implement the main goal of the public broadcaster, which is to make the highest quality content available to the widest possible audience, without cooperation with leading operators in Poland. Thanks to the cooperation with Canal +, the TVP Dokument channel will be available in HD quality on the satellite channel from the first day of broadcasting. Thus, subscribers of this platform will be one of the first to get access to this unique offer”.

Tomasz Piechal, director of TVP Dokument, said: “We are convinced that Telewizja Polska’s new channel will appeal to subscribers of the Canal + platform. TVP Dokument is a channel created for viewers expecting the highest quality production – and that’s what we intend to invest in. We will present the best documentaries of recent years from Poland and the world, and from the new year – also the latest documentary series of our own production. I can assure you that thanks to our channel, you will see more!”
