Netflix has launched a new service that puts its content into a regular linear channel.
According to Variety, the rollout of Netflix Direct began on Thursday in selected parts of France, with plans to expand its availability further during December.
Subscribers can watch series and films from the United States and France.
It’s the first time that Netflix has experimented with a traditional linear schedule.
However, in August Netflix brought in Shuffle Play, which randomly plays content that it believes the user will like, based on what’s been viewed in the past.
Netflix is estimated to have 9 million subscribers in the French market.
