Italian satellite platform tivùsat is warning viewers to ensure their set-top boxes are ready for the clearance of the 700MHz band.
The move to create additional frequencies for 5G services is largely associated with digital terrestrial services, but there is also an impact on some early tivùsat receivers.
In a statement, the broadcaster said those who already see HD channels are ready with HD decoders representing the “vast majority” of its installed base.
tivùsat says an easy check is to see whether Canale 5 HD or Cine34 are available, if they are present then the viewer already has a suitable box and can continue viewing unhindered.
All the channels from public broadcaster RAI as well as commercial broadcaster Mediaset can be viewed with a tivùsat certified Conditional Access Module (CAM).
