The number of broadband internet and pay-TV subscribers in Russia grew in the second quarter.
According to data published by TMT Consulting, the former increased by 0.7%, or more than 250,000, compared to the first quarter to 33.9 million. Penetration stood at 61% and the market was worth R36.1 billion (€404 million).
However, revenues fell by more than 1.5% and ARPU by R7.5 to R356, due to various promotions and offers during the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the number of pay-TV subscribers increased by 0.4%, or almost 200,000, during Q2 to 46.5 million.
Revenues were, at R26.1 billion, 1.4% lower than the previous quarter, when they also fell due to seasonal factors related to satellite TV.
Pay-TV ARPU in the second quarter was R191 excluding VAT, or R3 less than the previous quarter. This was almost the same as the R190 figure posted in the same period last year.
