Disney is to rebrand its TV studios business, dropping the Fox moniker, and reviving the Touchstone brands.
20th Century Fox Television will change its name to 20th Television, while Fox 21 TV Studios will morph into Touchstone Television. The two were acquired when Disney purchased part of Fox’s TV interests some 18 months ago.
ABC Studios and subsidiary ABC Signature Studios will merge into a single unit called ABC Signature. While the integration will take place immediately, viewers won’t notice any difference until the end of the year.
The current management structure is expected to remain.
“Our new studio names and logos mark a new day for ABC Signature, 20th Television and Touchstone Television while honouring their rich histories and the creative power of the Walt Disney Co. Dana [Walden] and I could not be more pleased with the first year of our three studios together as part of Disney Television Studios and we believe that with our powerhouse talent roster and exceptional studio teams, the best is yet to come,” said Disney TV Studios president Craig Hunegs.
The removal of the Fox name was originally agreed as part of the original deal to avoid confusion in the market.
