Free-to-air satellite TV platform Freesat has named Peter Simpson as its new chief technology officer.
He’ll oversee the product, engineering and operations teams across Freesat’s technology functions and head product development.
Simpson has previously held senior positions at ARRIS, Nokia, Vidiator, Pace and Three UK. His most recent role was at Commscope, Freesat’s partner in the development of its latest generation set top box, where he was VP, Product Management for its international video business.
Alistair Thom, managing director, Freesat said, “Having known Peter for some time and having worked closely together as we developed out new 4K TV Boxes, I’m confident that he will bring great industry knowledge and strategic vision to the Freesat team; not to mention the skills and drive to develop our platform and products in innovative new directions as we expand our business over the coming years.”
Peter Simpson added, “I’m tremendously excited to be joining Freesat right now. Alistair and team have laid the foundations of a dynamic company that is uniquely positioned in the market place and is laser-focused on how to be successful. I am raring to go and be part of the Freesat team that will achieve that.”
