Chris Dziadul Reports: Invitation to a special CEE webinar

May 8, 2020 10.55 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

These are unprecedented times for the TV industry in Central and Eastern Europe.

The lock downs imposed across the region to halt the spread of Covid-19 have led to exceptional increases in the viewership of both linear and on demand services. At the same time, the production industry has effectively ground to a halt.

With restrictions about to start easing, the question on many people’s minds is will things return to the way they were before the crisis? Or will the industry, like indeed many other aspects of our lives, find itself in what has been described as a “new normal?”

It goes without saying that trade events have been particularly hard hit by the pandemic. MWC, MIP, ANGA and in Central and Eastern Europe the upcoming NEM Dubrovnik, PIKE and NATPE Budapest have all effectively been cancelled. In some instances, including the last three, they have been rolled into future events in the hope that by then the situation will have significantly improved.

In the absence of shows and conferences webinars have come to the fore. Covering a wide range of topics, the message they all ultimately convey is that it’s business as usual during this unusual time.

Broadband TV News is highly experienced in organising events, having held numerous business briefings throughout Europe in the last decade. It is also highly experienced in holding webinars and going forward will be significantly developing this side of its business.

Our next event, in which we have partnered with Intelsat, was originally going to be held in Prague. However, as the crisis unfolded we decided to offer it online as a series of three webinars.

The first of these will be held next Wednesday, May 13 and will include a panel discussion covering a broad range of issues in the CEE market, with a focus on the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It will be followed by webinars on May 19 and 21, all of which we feel will be of great interest to our readers.

White Paper: Why Wi-Fi 7 is critical for ISPs in the gigabit+ era

Today, consumers are increasingly using bandwidth-intensive and latency-sensitive workloads, such as 4K and 8K streaming, online gaming, and AR/VR applications.
