Skylink invests in content

May 1, 2020 12.38 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Czech and Slovak DTH platform operator Skylink has made major changes in its programme offer in order to adapt it to current trends in TV viewing.

They will see it the channels Nova Sport 1 HD, Nova Sport 2 HD and National Geographic HD added to its Smart package today (May 1). At the same time, National Geographic HD, FightBox and Love Nature HD have been added to its Multi package.

Commenting on the development, Jaromír Glisník, a member of the board of directors of M7 Group, said: “We constantly monitor trends in interest in individual genres, specific television channels and types of programmes, and we try to project them into our programme offer. That is why, for example, in the middle of this month (April), we included the exclusive National Geographic (NG +) video library with hundreds of unique documentaries in our offer as the only pay-TV operator in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The interest from viewers is really great, as evidenced by the total number of views, which in the first few days exceeded 50,000. In addition, we work intensively with our parent company Canal + to locate a number of attractive series and television programs. They will soon be available exclusively to our customers, both via satellite broadcasting and via the Skylink Live TV internet service”.

Skylink has also announced that it will no longer offer Eurosport 1 HD, Eurosport 2 HD, Discovery, TLC, Discovery Showcase HD and Animal Planet after the end of May. This follows its failure to reach a contract extension agreement with Discovery.
