Austrian pay-TV broadcaster Sky Österreich has integrated Netflix as an app into its streaming platform Sky X.
For access the Sky X streaming box is required, which enables households to receive the entire Sky offer on their TV set as an OTT service through the internet, without cable or satellite TV.
Sky X customers can sign up for Netflix directly via the Sky X streaming box. Netflix subscribers can use their existing login details.
“Sky X was launched in Austria a year ago and is enjoying increasing popularity. We want to offer the best TV experience to our customers who prefer flexible, internet-based TV and are therefore constantly developing our product,” said Michael Radelsberger, vice president go to market strategy of Sky Österreich. “The addition of the Netflix app on the Sky X streaming box is another important element in line with this commitment.”
Also new on the Sky X streaming box are voice control via the remote control, individual parental control settings and a new children’s area.
With the OTT platform, Sky wants to make itself more independent of conventional cable and satellite distribution. Sky X includes all Sky channels and third-party channels, on-demand services and selected free-TV channels.
