The sale of the Croatian telco Optima Telekom is unlikely to happen this year even if a new buyer is found.
Poslovni reports that as a result of the coronavirus crisis and recent earthquake in Zagreb, the regulator HAKOM has decided to postpone the full implementation of a key instrument that determines if the incumbent Hrvatski Telekom (HT) is pushing competition out of the market through wholesale prices.
It adds that Optima Telekom is one of the largest customers of HT’s wholesale services though not the only one.
However, HAKOM also insists it has given up monitoring the three key regulated markets in which HT is the leading player.
In the case of two of these markets – broadband and fixed-line public communications – the incumbent has already seen its share fall since 2016.
