Portugal has suspended its DTT migration process due to constraints brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Anacom has confirmed that frequency shifts that were due to be changed from March 16, 2020 will now get underway at a later date. In a statement the regulator said the process would be resumed once conditions associated with the pandemic allowed it to do so.
Operator MEO has been hampered by civil protection and public health measures that has been brought in by the Portuguese authorities.
“In view of the various risks and high uncertainty about the accomplishment of the migration process under the planned terms, its immediate suspension appears prudent,” said Anacom.
The 700MHz band is being cleared to make way for new 5G services.
