The French video-sharing platform Dailymotion has joined YouTube and Netflix in scaling down the amount of bandwidth given to videos on its website during the Coronavirus crisis.
In a statement the Vivendi-owned site said it had made the move to “support European countries in this exceptional situation and facing the risk of network saturation”.
Videos available in UHD (4K), Full HD (1080p) and HD (720p) definitions will be played in standard definition (SD) for the next 15 days.
The move began on Friday and is being rolled out gradually.
