Japanese broadcaster NHK has given details of its plans to broadcast the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in the 8K format.
The broadcaster, which is working with Olympic Broadcasting Services, will offer seven events from Tokyo in 8K; athletics, swimming, judo, football, table tennis, badminton and volleyball.
Paralympics will see coverage of four sports; athletics, swimming, badminton and wheelchair rugby.
It will be the first time that the Paralympics have been given 8K coverage.
An NHK statement read: “We are preparing the highest standards of broadcast and service for our viewers.”
In another first, NHK plans to shoot 8K video live from a helicopter, during the opening and closing ceremonies of both the Olympics and Paralympics.
The Olympics are scheduled to take place between 24 July and 9 August. The Paralympics will run between 25 August and 6 September 2020.
