Telenet is to finally turn off analogue cable radio in Flanders and Brussels.
The operator says its planning a phased switchover that will conclude on April 22nd.
“Discontinuing this outdated technology will free up space on the cable network for the ever-increasing number of digital applications, such as video streaming, online gaming, sending photos, etc,” Telenet said in a statement.
Customers have been sent a letter advising them on the switch and “possible solutions for continuing to listen to the radio.”
Telenet, announced in October last year that it would discontinue the analogue radio and TV signal through cable between 2020 and the end of 2021.
Fifteen years after the launch of digital television, more than 90% of all customers watch digital TV.
Telenet will switch off its analogue TV signals from 2020, with a pilot project taking place in Beringen and Lochristi in March.
