Vectra has completed the acquisition of Multimedia Polska for an undisclosed fee. By doing so, it has become the largest cable operator in Poland in subscriber number terms, overtaking Liberty Global’s UPC Polska.
Commenting on the development, Vectra president and CEO Tomasz Zuranski said: “The implementation of the transaction allows us a much larger scale of activities – access to a wide customer base and the potential of one of the best and largest fixed telecommunications infrastructures in Poland. Greater investment capacity and managerial talent of the merged entities will translate into the opportunity to offer a more attractive offer to both retail and business customers, which is the merit of this transaction”.
Jan Piotrowski, the newly appointed president of Multimedia Polska, added that the two operators will continue their operational activities without any changes. However, in due course they will create joint offers.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has given its approval to the deal on condition that Vectra sells networks in eight cities and gives customers the option to change provider in a further 13.
Vectra will now have over 1.7 million subscribers, with its network reaching around 4.4 million homes.
