Apple has reported its highest-ever quarterly earnings, but the $92 billion was drawn from increased iPhone sales and other subscription services such as Apple Music and Apple News+.
In an analyst call CFO Luca Maestri described revenues from the newly launched Apple TV+ as being “immaterial to our results”. Maestri said he anticipated that Apple TV+ would ultimately eclipse its other subscription services in terms of revenue.
Launched on November 1 last year Apple TV+ is priced at £4.99 a month. It is also available free for those purchasing a new Apple device or the Apple Music Student Plan.
Significantly, Apple TV+ is also available outside the Apple ecosystem, so in addition to iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch and Mac, Apple TV+ can also be found on select Samsung smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, as well as on the web at tv.apple.com.
