Proximus says it will create a local media ecosystem after it renewed its distribution agreement with the Belgian public broadcaster VRT.
The operator plans to put local content and channels, including those of VRT, in the spotlight and ensure that users can discover them at a glance in an intuitive interface.
Proximus’ Pickx platform will also highlight local content and festivals.
Guillaume Boutin, CEO, Proximus Group, said: “We are convinced that, through this collaboration, Proximus, the VRT and its various strong brands will pave the way for a stronger local ecosystem”
Paul Lembrechts, CEO, VRT added: “With its offer, the VRT wants to reach all Flemings in the best and most user-friendly way possible. Our programs, such as our internationally recognized fiction series and our news offer, are strongly appreciated by the Flemish.”
VRT is the national public-service broadcaster for the Flemish Region and Community of Belgium.
