Christine Scheil, managing director of Sky Austria since September 2015, will leave the broadcaster at her own request on December 31, 2019.
Neal O’Rourke, who comes to Vienna from Sky Ireland, will take over the chief position of the European pay-TV operator’s Austrian branch.
Scheil, who secured the exclusive rights to Austrian domestic football league Bundesliga for Sky Austria and was responsible for the launch of streaming service Sky X, held senior positions at Sky Deutschland and Sky Austria for 20 years.
“For personal reasons, I decided to terminate my management duties at Sky Austria. I would like to thank the entire team for their great performance and trust over the past few years and I wish Neal all the best and much success,” said Scheil.
O’Rourke, currently chief finance and strategy officer of Sky Ireland, will take over as head of Sky Austria in January 2020. Scheil will remain with Sky Austria as a consultant for a transitional period.
In addition to Sky Deutschland, where Devesh Raj, currently Sky COO, Continental Europe, will succeed CEO Carsten Schmidt, Sky Austria will now also start into the new year under new leadership.
