Streaming media service Plex has announced that thousands of movies and TV shows are now available for free via its new ad-supported video on demand feature.
The new platform requires no hardware, and no subscription. People can just sign up for a free Plex account and get access to thousands of titles, with minimal ads shown, and organised by categories, including Kids & Family, Action, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Drama, Thriller, Anime, and more.
Apart from films and TV shows, Plex also offers a selection of web TV shows as well as (audio) podcasts and access to Tidal. The News section offers content from France 24, Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, Newsy, Cheddar News Network, Euronews, Voice of America, The Guardian, USA Today, and others.
Plex said in a statement “While there are other ad-supported streaming services, like those from Tubi, Pluto, and Vudu, Plex is available in more than 200 countries, making it the most widely available AVOD offering in the industry.”
Plex new AVOD platform is available for free, but a premium version is also available at EUR4.99 a month or EUR39.99 a year. Plex AVOD also supports Chromecast for viewing on the regular TV set.
